Estelle Getty passes away at age 84.
The sweet old Estelle Getty, who played Sophia in The Golden Girls passed away on Tuesday morning only three days before her 85th birthday.
Estelle had been battling advanced dementia for many years. She passed away in her own home, with all her family around her.
For her role in The Golden Girls, she got an amazing seven consecutive Supporting Actress Emmy nominations between 1986 and 1992. She won in 1988.
She also earnt herself three Golden Globe nominations, including a win for Leading Role in a Comedy Series in 1986.
