Madonna’s “Sticky and Sweet” stage collapse, 1 dead

At least one person is dead and a half dozen others are injured after a portion of Madonna’s “Sticky and Sweet” stage set collapsed at an arena in Marseille, France on Thursday.

“I am devastated to have just received this tragic news,” Madonna said in a statement. “My prayers go out to those who were injured and their families along with my deepest sympathy to all those affected by this heartbreaking news.”

French police tell NME.com that the accident occurred in Nice’s Stade Velodrome at 5:15 PM local time (11:15 AM EST) after a stage being constructed fell apart on top of several workers.
