In what’s probably the 200th backlash Joan Rivers has dealt with since the 1920′s the “E!Fashion Police” host has come under fire this week for comparing supermodel Heidi Klum to a Holocaust victim!
In the latest episode Joan talks about Heidi’s gold gown that she wore on the night of the Academy Awards, “The last time a German looked this hot was when they were pushing Jews into ovens” said the comedienne. The Anti-Defamation League released a statement within hours, “Of all people, Joan Rivers should know better. This remark is so vulgar and offensive to Jews and Holocaust survivors, and indeed to all Americans, that we cannot believe it made it to the airwaves, It is also vulgar and offensive for anybody to use the death of six million Jews and millions of others in the Holocaust to make a joke, but this is especially true for someone who is Jewish and who proudly and publicly wears her Jewishness on her sleeve.
”But Joan is not backing down & released her own statement saying that she refuses to apologise “My husband lost the majority of his family at Auschwitz, and I can assure you that I have always made it a point to remind people of the Holocaust through humor” It’s just Joan being Joan really, & the extra publicity certainly doesn’t hurt the ratings for her show ;)
